How to create personalized wedding theme

January 24, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

While couples often use a color scheme for a cohesive decor for their wedding, incorporating a shared passion into the theme can be just as beautiful and create a much more personalized atmosphere. But what's the best way to pull this off?

According to Brides magazine, begin by sitting down with your partner and making a list of the things you love to do together. Refrain from naming every shared interest you have – it can lead to an overwhelming and messy list of concepts – and instead stick to what you each care about most.

Next, think outside the box and try to creatively weave your passions into your affair, from the table settings to the wedding favors.

"Think of your wedding as the essence of yourselves, not a mirror image," the publication suggests. "If you have [Thai food] every Sunday…add Asian flavors, such as ginger and coconut, to the wedding cake, or set the table with bamboo flatware."

Finally, you can also use the location to further your theme.

"Consider an unexpected venue (library, zoo, museum) that truly reflects something about which you're passionate and that offers a clear glimpse into your lives together," the news source recommends.

Jewel’s having a boy!

January 24, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

While some expectant couples don't want to know the sex of the baby prior to the day he or she is born, others can't wait and find out long before the birth announcements have been printed. One such pair? Jewel and Ty Murray, who recently revealed they are expecting a boy.

"We would have been happy either way, of course, but we are so excited to be ?having a little boy," Jewel told People magazine.

Her husband, a nine-time World Champion rodeo cowboy, echoed his wife's enthusiasm.

"I have to admit, I was doing a little dance on our way out of the doctor's ?office when we found out!" Murray added.

Though Jewel and Murray are thrilled to welcome a boy, it seems that another expectant celebrity may be hoping to send out pink birth announcements instead – Kate Hudson.

"I think secretly we're all hoping for a girl," Kurt Russell, longtime boyfriend of Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn, confessed to the news source in a different article.

However, the family is thrilled that there will soon be an addition to the group, regardless of gender.

"It's fun having babies once again. We just really like that. And it's fun to watch them grow. It's fun to see what they're grasping," Russell added.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a party for everybody!

January 22, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

While many couples spend Valentine's Day on a romantic date for two, it's always fun to also celebrate the holiday with your best friends. After all, it's a great day to honor everyone you adore – not just your significant other!

This year, February 14th falls on a Monday, leaving the weekend wide open for revelry. Plan your party for Friday or Saturday night, speaking to pals before selecting a date to see if any are celebrating the holiday early.

Pay close attention when creating the guest list, as you'll want an even mix of couples and single friends. If the crowd is too heavy on one group, the others may feel especially out of place at a Valentine's Day gathering.

Make the party space look magical but don't feel obligated to stick to pink and red adornments. Mix it up with blue heart-shaped decals and silver streamers for a modern twist on a traditional decor.

Have a slew of finger foods and cocktails on hands to further the fiesta's celebratory feel. Of course, this party isn't complete without sweet treats, so make sure to get lots of Valentine's Day candy as well.

Chronicle your friend’s pregnancy with a scrapbook

January 21, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

While carrying a child can be stressful, it can also be an incredibly joyful and memorable time in a mom-to-be's life. But between doctor's appointments and shopping for baby products, pregnancy can be a rather busy time. If you have a friend who is expecting, help her document the precious nine months by creating a scrapbook.

A scrapbook is a great way to chronicle the pregnancy but is also a project that the mom-to-be may not always have time for. With your help, however, she can easily document this period and preserve memories for years to come.

Start the album by asking your friend to hold on to anything and everything, from the box the pregnancy test came in to ultrasound pictures to a wrapper from the baby shower favors. Collect the mementos periodically and catalog them in the scrapbook. While you can do the crafting, sit with your pal as you create the pages, so that she can fill in any personal but significant details.

Remember to mark the date on each page or next to each item so that the scrapbook stays organized. Leave room on the last page for the newborn's birth announcement. You can present the book to your friend at her baby shower, when she returns home from the hospital or hang on to it as a sweet gift on the baby's first birthday.

Make wedding planning easier with an inspiration album

January 21, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

Wedding planning can often feel overwhelming, given the seemingly limitless amount of wedding favors, flowers and color schemes from which to choose. However, preparing for the big day doesn't have to be stressful. Instead, create an inspiration album to help you hone in on what you and your partner like and dislike.

Many people collect images, clippings and objects they adore for inspiration during the wedding planning process, and cataloging them in a book is simple and can make the planning process a whole lot easier.

Begin by compiling pieces that appeal to you – flip through magazines and photo albums, surf the web and walk outside and snap pictures. Update the album as you collect items, filling pages with colors, shapes and fonts that you love.

Once the book is complete, look through it to see if you can spot any themes. If you find that the album is filled with reds and yellows or tropical beaches, incorporate those ideas into your motif.

Inspiration albums are especially helpful if you are using a wedding planner. It can be hard to verbalize color schemes and themes, but this book will allow you to show a professional exactly what appeals to you, who you are and what you like.
