An indoor wedding inspired by the great outdoors

November 16, 2010 by Candy Wrapper Store

While couples who live in warm climates can always opt for an outdoor wedding, those who live in the North may not always be able to hold their ceremony outside, as many months are filled with cold temperatures and snowfall.

However, there are ways that individuals in the coldest climates can exchange vows while enjoying the beauty of an outdoor wedding without freezing! It just takes a bit of careful planning.

First, look for a venue that boasts large, picture windows. Whether the room overlooks a beach, a lush forest or a snowy hill, the views are sure to be breathtaking.

Additionally, bring a bit of your natural surroundings inside. Fill the party space with bushels of blossoms and organic colors, such as rich earth tones. However, your wedding doesn't have to be a neutral-hued affair – some of the brightest shades are found in nature, so don't hesitate to use the colors of a sunset or a field of wildflowers.

Remember to continue the theme with your wedding favors. Send guests home with personalized wedding stickers that feature you and your partner's names as well as a picture of a flower or leaves.

Jessica Simpson gets engaged one week after Nick Lachey

November 15, 2010 by Candy Wrapper Store

While it's been five years since Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson starred in MTV's Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, the former lovebirds might as well audition for another reality show – The Amazing Race. Just one week after Lachey proposed to long-time girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, Simpson announced that she and Eric Johnson plan to walk down the aisle as well.

A rep for the couple confirmed to People Magazine that Simpson and Johnson are engaged. However, a source close to the pair swears that the proposal had nothing to do with Jessica's ex-husband's news.

"[Eric] had been planning the engagement for awhile and the date of the engagement was a special date for them," the insider told the news outlet.

While we're curious to see which couple will win the race to the altar, we're even more interested to see how the upcoming ceremonies will compare to Nick and Jessica's 2002 nuptials. According to CelebrityBrideGuide.com, their wedding was the epitome of romance. Tables were decorated with pink roses and candles, and guests were given CD recordings of love songs that the couple recorded for one another as wedding favors.

Let holiday movies inspire your holiday party

November 12, 2010 by Candy Wrapper Store

While holiday parties are a lot of fun, it can be hard to keep them from getting monotonous. But instead of throwing the traditional Yuletide cocktail soiree, why not throw a festive theme party? It's a fun way to celebrate the season, and best of all it's exceptionally easy to plan!

Use beloved holiday movies as inspiration for your fiesta. Ask guests to dress as their favorite characters from a holiday film of their choice. Note on the invitations that there will be an award handed out at the end of the night for the best costume, which will ensure that partygoers show up in some seriously creative ensembles.

Fill the room with the sounds of your favorite Christmas movies. Soundtracks are available for some films, such as White Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. You can also set up a television to play some of your favorite DVDs on loop throughout the shindig.

The decorations for your holiday party can remain traditional – holly, twinkling lights and mistletoe are fan favorites. In addition to hors d'oeuvres and drinks, have lots of Christmas candy on hand, such as candy canes and chocolates wrapped in festive-colored foil.

Throw your child a Willy Wonka-inspired birthday party

November 10, 2010 by Candy Wrapper Store

Most children celebrate their birthday with a fun fiesta, and the party planning responsibilities often fall on the parents' shoulders. However, after years of throwing birthday parties, it can be difficult to come up with an original theme that is both creative and easy to execute.

While it may seem complicated at first, kids are sure to enjoy a Willy Wonka theme party. After all, what child wouldn't want to spend an afternoon in a candy factory?

Convert your living room into a makeshift movie theater, and provide a plethora of seating so that every youngster has a place to recline while watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Of course, this won't be an ordinary viewing of the film. Instead, turn it into an interactive experience! As the characters in the movie make their way through the factory and sample various treats, pass around similarly flavored confections so the kids can pretend they are a part of Willy Wonka's world.

Remember not to send guests home empty-handed. Personalized lollipops make great birthday favors, and you may also want to include a souvenir trinket, such as a key chain, so that kids have a memorable keepsake to treasure after they've enjoyed their lollipop.

How to infuse your wedding ceremony with romance

November 10, 2010 by Candy Wrapper Store

Weddings are the ultimate celebration of a couple's love for one another, so it makes sense that many pairs about to tie the knot want an intimate and romantic ceremony. However, it can be tricky to think of fantastic decorations that embody the spirit of love without appearing too over-the-top.

Cream-colored accents will appear softer than stark white pieces. Warm colors, layers of sweeping fabric and lots of candles will instantly add a feeling of romance to any space.

Instead of roses and heart-shaped items, which can come across as conventional, opt for decorations that subtly convey romance. Fill glass vases with foil-wrapped Hershey kisses and surround the centerpieces with candles. The candle light will playfully reflect off the glass and the sweet treats.

Chocolate is also often thought of as an aphrodisiac, making it the perfect romantic favor to send home with your guests. Hand out chocolate bars that boast personalized labels – loved ones can keep the wrapper as a memento and nibble on the confection on their way home.
