According to KGO-TV, about 20 percent of all weddings are now destination weddings.

These celebrations can take place in any type of locale including beaches, out-of-town cities, foreign countries and other tourist destinations.

Experts say the economy may be the driving force behind the popularity of these celebrations.

"With the current economic situation, destination weddings have become the affordable option to have an extraordinary wedding without breaking the bank," said RomanceTravelConcierge.com's Melissa Tindage.

The reason why these sometimes elaborate weddings can be cheaper often comes down to numbers. Since fewer people will travel to go to a wedding, hosts save money on food, alcohol and other costs.

Regardless of where your destination wedding is held, expert planners say that a welcome bag or basket is a great way to make guests feel special when they arrive.

These can be assembled in advance and left with the front desk or concierge of the hotel to deliver to each guest's room.

According to TheKnot.com, essential items to include in these welcome bags include a detailed schedule, a local map, snacks, essentials specific to the location (i.e. sunscreen for a beach wedding) and bottled water.

Reese Witherspoon is shopping for wedding dresses

Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon may soon be anxious to send out some save the date cards!

The 34-year old star got engaged to her boyfriend of about a year, Jim Toth, 40, last month.

"Reese quickly realized that Jim was someone that she felt safe with and could count on," a source recently told People magazine.

Now, the publication reports that Witherspoon is eager to start her new life with Toth and is already hard at work planning the wedding.

Various news outlets report that she recently travelled to Paris with a few girlfriends to shop for dresses.

While there's no news on which designer will be tapped to create her wedding gown, People reports she visited the showrooms of luxury labels including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Lanvin and Giambattista Valli.

The marriage will be the first for Toth and the second for Witherspoon, who is divorced from actor Ryan Phillipe.

She has two children from her previous marriage – Ava is 11 and Deacon is 7.

Whether or not Witherspoon and Toth will have children is another mystery.

"I would love to have more kids," she recently told Glamour magazine. "Kids are the best part of my day. I don’t wake up to make movies. I wake up to hang out with my family."

Maybe the duo will be sending birth announcements out in the near future as well!

Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem become first-time parents

It's been an eventful week for actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

In addition to Bardem's third Oscar nomination for the film "Biutiful," the couple, who has been married since July, welcomed their first child, a son.

Although Entertainment Tonight has confirmed that the couple had a baby boy last Saturday at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, reps have not released further details of the baby boy.

"Both parents and baby are doing great," an insider told the news provider.

The notoriously private couple was said to be surrounded by family members. The proud parents are most likely hard at work adjusting to life with an infant. Perhaps they're looking for the perfect birth announcements?

Just a few weeks ago, the couple attended a baby shower for themselves at their home in Los Angeles.

According to the New York Post, the shower was an all-girls' affair until Cruz's friend, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, joined the party.

"Leo wanted to show up to surprise her," a source told the newspaper.

Throwing a baby shower for an expectant friend or family member is a great way to celebrate the impending birth and help the parents prepare for the arrival of a new baby.
