Throw your daughter a princess party fit for a fairytale

March 14, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

Birthday parties are a great way for your little one to live out his or her dream for a day. And what little girl doesn't dream of being flung into her storybooks? For your daughter's next birthday, make that wish come true and throw her a fairytale fiesta!

On the invitations, encourage guests to dress up as their favorite princess. Use either an inexpensive red sheet or a few strands of red streamer to represent a red carpet. Place it out along the front steps and watch as your guests beam when they arrive. You'll want to lay a pink or purple cloth over the dining table and sprinkle glitter and confetti over it.

A fun variation on pin the tail on the donkey is put the slipper on Cinderella. Print out a pair of glass slippers for each guest and have them try to place them on a blown-up picture of the princess.

Some party favor ideas include personalized candy wrappers for each "princess" in attendance or individual bubble containers. There are lots of small fairytale-themed items out there, so get creative!

Choosing the perfect wedding dress

March 14, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

Your wedding dress is the most personalized gift you can give yourself – it practically defines the ceremony's style and says a lot about your personality. Naturally, choosing that perfect gown is no simple task, but you can make the process a lot easier on yourself by finding inspiration before hitting the boutiques.

A good method of figuring out what exactly you want by watching memorable ceremonies, like Forrest Gump's modest country marriage or Princess Diana's lavish royal fairytale. Find weddings that speak to you and note what it is about them that catches your eye. As you compile a selection of dresses that you like, you should start to see a unifying theme, be it color or style. Flipping through a bridal magazine or two will also work.

Whatever you choose, just remember that this is your day and that ultimately the only opinion that matters is your own. And once you have your gown squared away, you'll be able to concentrate on wedding favors and picking the perfect menu. Remember, if you look fabulous and your guests leave smiling, it's bound to be an event to remember.

Throwing your child a memorable sleepover party

March 11, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

As your child starts getting older, he or she is going to start asking about sleepovers. What was once a source of tears and late-night pickups is now an anticipated and begged-for rite of passage. It's almost inevitable that your little one will soon be asking throwing a birthday slumber party! Here are some tips to help the children while away the night.

Birthday party favors like flashlights and small teddy bears can follow the theme. More personalized gifts, such as a child-sized nightcap, is sure to be adored by all. These are surprisingly affordable, between three and six dollars a pop.

If the weather is nice, take the kids to the backyard for a game of flashlight tag! For safety, you can turn on some outdoor lights, but make sure they can still play. A campfire will capture little imaginations in a jiffy, and who doesn't love s'mores?

It might be tempting, but you'll want to avoid scary stories, especially if you've got a younger crowd. Kids have a great time getting spooked out but there's always one who can't sleep, meaning you'll have to make an apologetic phone call in the middle of the night if you aren't careful.

Wedding party gift ideas

March 10, 2011 by Candy Wrapper Store

Your wedding party is crucial to making sure the big day goes off without a hitch. It's important that you express proper gratitude for the people who spent their weekends tying tiny bows on hundreds of bags of wedding favors.

The end of your bridal shower is a good time to give your bridesmaids a little token of thanks. It's a nice gesture after you've spent the last few hours opening gifts. If you're already on a budget, you may want to skip the individual Flip Cameras and go for something a bit more intimate.

Personalized gifts are a great way to let your bridesmaids know how much you appreciate them without breaking the bank. If you've got photos of the group, consider giving out picture frames that feature the entire bridal party. Give out miniature bottles of champagne, call for a toast and tell your friends how grateful you are to be celebrating your upcoming nuptials with them.

These are some of your best friends and they're more than happy to help you plan such an important occasion, but a nice, thoughtful gift will make them feel important and really cement the importance of their role on your big day.
